FESTIVAL: MEDIEVALMEDIA.ORG </span></p>

mettere in relazione il ricco e controverso ambiente culturale legato
all'arte dei nuovi media e il territorio della città di Brescia e
provincia; la creazione di workshop diviene strumento di promozione e
visibilità di progetti e soggetti operanti nei campi dell'innovazione
artistica e tecnologica aiutando le istituzioni a metabolizzare l' arte
digitale.<br>
Questi Workshop rispondono all'esigenza di creare un festival riferito
alle pratiche digitali e postdigitali a Brescia, proponendo progetti
internazionali, e pianificare le aspettative future.<br>
Per il perseguimento di tale scopo, Ualuba.org, nascente associazione
no profit della città di Brescia, svolgerà attività di promozione,
distribuzione, fruizione e conservazione attraverso la creazione di un </span><span
style="font-weight: bold; font-family: 'Arial';" lang="it-IT">database
culturale online</span><span style="font-family: 'Arial';" lang="it-IT">
partecipativo ed un appuntamento annuale offline con le idee ed i
progetti più innovativi.<br>

Stallman </span></p>

Fondatore del progetto GNU e della Free software foundation, è un
attivista americano del movimento del software libero, hacker e
programmatore. Nel settembre del 1983 lanciò il progetto GNU (GNU NOT
UNIX) per creare un sistema operativo libero simile a Unix, egli è il
principale organizzatore e creatore. Con il lancio del Progetto GNU, il
movimento del software libero prese vita; nell'Ottobre del 1985 fondò
la Free Software Foundation (FSF). Fu il pioniere del concetto di
copyleft (l' opposto di copyright) ed è il maggiore autore di molte
licenze copyleft compresa la GNU General Public License (GPL), la
licenza per software libero più diffusa. Dalla metà degli anni '90
spende molto del suo tempo sostenendo il software libero e la campagna
contro il software con licenza e ciò che a lui sembra una eccessiva
estensione delle leggi su copyright. Stallman ha anche sviluppato un
numero di parti di software usati ampiamente, compreso Emacs, la GNU
Compiler Collection e la GNU Debugger.<br>
Il kernel Linux è figlio dell' idea di Stallman; questo binomio ha dato
vita al sistema operativo propriamento chiamato GNU/Linux, in tutte le
distribuzioni oggi utilizzate.<br>
E' fra le persone più influenti al mondo, nel dibattito della cultura
digitale internazionale.<br>
