Problema con slac(K)ware

Hai provato a creare un nuovo file xorg.conf?

# init 3
# cd /etc/X11 
# X -configure  
# X -xf86config xorg.conf.new

Il comando "X -configure" crea un file xorg.conf.new nella directory corrente.
Il comando "X -xf86config xorg.conf.new" testa la configurazione.

Se va bene, allora:
# cp xorg.conf.new xorg.conf
# startx

[...]

Se non funziona il metodo precedente, prova come ti ha suggerito Dino.

Con xorgconfig, dopo un po' arrivi alla schermata:

Scegli "11" e immetti il range del tuo monitor.

Stessa cosa per "vsync":
