Beh se hai compilato con -march=pentium4 non è che tu abbia fatto una
gran cosa.
In quel caso evere dei malfunzionamenti è all'ordine del giorno.
Da quello che vedo su gentoo-wikii cflags dati come safe per la tua cpu
sono questi:

CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium3 -pipe -mfpmath=sse"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

Le cose che vedi a video probabilmente sono dovute al fatto che
compilando il kernel hai
attivato le funzioni di debug dell'acpi. io le disabiliterei. Guarda sotto:
Power management options->ACPI->Debug Statements
Per il fatto della home posta il contenuto di fstab.
