Per completezza del thread, questa è la risposta che ho ricevuto a fronte
della domanda che avevo postato anche in lista.

Consiglio comunque di provare Monodevelop per programmare in C#/GTK.

I am sure this is not the answer you want to hear, but: just don't use the

fixed container. ;)

You can do anything with a table container or the hbox/vbox containers and

they are far more flexible. I don't wanna say that the fixed container can

not deal with your problem, but I don't know - cause I never use it and I
assume that this is the same for most of the other users here.

Due to the drag & drop and copy & paste ability of the Monodevelop GUI
designer it is ridiculous easy and quick to redesign a GUI.

I would propose: try it out
I am sure in a few minutes of playing around this will fit your needs.

One hint: you can leave empty container "boxes" because at runtime they
will automagically rendered away!
