UNDER THE BRIM CONTEST 27 RESULTS: THE INK BLOT TEST
In UTB Contest 27, we asked you to take a look at this imageand tell us what you saw after we planted the subject "A world withoutMicrosoft" in your mind. While in a contest like this everyone's awinner, the following three entries stood out.

Honorable mention #1 goes to Joe in Hawaii who had this vision:

"I see a world where all sides are equal. The two halves harmoniouslycompliment each other. There are small beginnings that grow to largerand larger entities that gracefully join with all parties, butthroughout there is symmetry, openness, and peace. It's a black andwhite world with no deceit."

Yeah, Joe, we saw that, too. Getting a bit too much sun over there inHawaii, are you?

Honorable mention #2 goes to Scott in Australia, who gets the award foraimless mental wandering. He submitted this entry. What it has to dowith the subject is anybody's guess.

"I see two Australian Unicorns drinking stubbies (small bottles of beer)and having a yarn ... of course they may actually be boxing but at timesthat is hard to distinguish in the bars that I have been to aswell!!!!!!"

And this month's winning entry, from Carl L., whose poeticinterpretation shook the very foundations of our world (or somethinglike that):

"Unhinged shackles - fetters free
Chains asunder - room to breathe
Shadows vanquished - high noon bright
N'er again the MS night!"

Thanks to everyone who participated, and congratulations, Carl!

UNDER THE BRIM CONTEST 28: TELL YOUR TCO STORY
As you learned above, IDC recently published a new Linux Total Cost ofOwnership study. Just as we've suspected all along, it shows remarkablesavings customers find when they move to Linux.

In honor of this new study, we'd like to challenge you to send usstories of your own Red Hat Linux "saves". Send us your story, 100words or less. The story that best demonstrates one of the following savings superlatives wins a brand spanking new copy of Red Hat Linux 7.2.

    1. Most money saved using Red Hat Linux
    2. Most time saved using Red Hat Linux
    3. Greatest save of sanity by using Red Hat Linux

Send your entries to feedback@redhat.com and make sure to mention thecategory you are entering when you send your story. If you don't mind, include your physical location (country/state/city/whatever). As always,if you don't want to see your name or location in the newsletter, sayso.

SUCCESS STORY OF THE MONTH: Virginia Polytechnic and State University

The Linux developers of tomorrow are getting a head start today at
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Graduate students
investigating how best to use Linux in areas of distributed computing,
programming language implementation, and networking, have picked Red Hat
Linux as their operating system of choice.

UNDER THE BRIM CONTEST 27 RESULTS: THE INK BLOT TEST

In UTB Contest 27, we asked you to take a look
at this image
and tell us what you saw after we planted the subject "A world without
Microsoft" in your mind. While in a contest like this everyone's a
winner, the following three entries stood out.

Honorable mention #1 goes to Joe in Hawaii who had this vision:

"I see a world where all sides are equal. The two halves harmoniously
compliment each other. There are small beginnings that grow to larger
and larger entities that gracefully join with all parties, but
throughout there is symmetry, openness, and peace. It's a black and
white world with no deceit."

Yeah, Joe, we saw that, too. Getting a bit too much sun over there in
Hawaii, are you?

Honorable mention #2 goes to Scott in Australia, who gets the award for
aimless mental wandering. He submitted this entry. What it has to do
with the subject is anybody's guess.

"I see two Australian Unicorns drinking stubbies (small bottles of beer)
and having a yarn ... of course they may actually be boxing but at times
that is hard to distinguish in the bars that I have been to as
well!!!!!!"

And this month's winning entry, from Carl L., whose poetic
interpretation shook the very foundations of our world (or something
like that):

"Unhinged shackles - fetters free
Chains asunder - room to breathe
Shadows vanquished - high noon bright
N'er again the MS night!"

Thanks to everyone who participated, and congratulations, Carl!

UNDER THE BRIM CONTEST 28: TELL YOUR TCO STORY

As you learned above, IDC recently published a new Linux Total Cost of
Ownership study. Just as we've suspected all along, it shows remarkable
savings customers find when they move to Linux.

In honor of this new study, we'd like to challenge you to send us
stories of your own Red Hat Linux "saves". Send us your story, 100
words or less. The story that best demonstrates one of the following
savings superlatives wins a brand spanking new copy of Red Hat
Linux 7.2.

   1. Most money saved using Red Hat Linux
   2. Most time saved using Red Hat Linux
   3. Greatest save of sanity by using Red Hat Linux

Send your entries to feedback@redhat.com and make sure to mention the
category you are entering when you send your story. If you don't mind,
include your physical location (country/state/city/whatever). As always,
if you don't want to see your name or location in the newsletter, say
so.
