**Updates around The Linux Counter Project**

**Monthly newsletter**

The Linux Counter grows and becomes a popular project again! That also
means, that we have to take care that it will stay as popular as it is now.
For this we've changed our newsletter system to phpList.com. They are
sponsoring us with the ability to send about three newsletters to all users
in our database each month. We won't need so many emails, but it is good to
know, that we could send so many emails if we need.

For now it is planned to send about one newsletter every month. If there is
a very important announcement, we'll send that beside the newsletter. But
that will not happen very often.

**Kernel Fun Statistics has changed**

Everybody (in the press) is talking about 15 mio. lines of code for
versions greater than 4.0 and 20 Mio. lines of code for versions greater
than 4.2. Since our fun statistics for the lines of codes were NOT counting
the comments in the code, the numbers there were greatly lower that what
others say.

In order to become closer to what everybody is telling you in the press and
to what you may read somewhere else, I've changed this in the last week.
Now our Kernel fun statistics are also counting the comments and thus, the
numbers are way greater now.

**Improved code style and stability of the Android App**

Thanks to "johnjohndoe", who has sent me three cool pull requests and many
tipps for increasing code style and quality of our Android App, the App
becomes more and more stable for all devices.

There still seems to be some issues with Nexus devices, but I'm sure, these
will get solved too soon.

**SEO seems to be very successful!**

Since some few weeks I'm also doing SEO (search engine optimizing) and
until now with very great success: I've started with SEO about seven weeks
ago with a Google Search Result position when searching for "Linux" of
somewhere behind 200, a Google Page Rank of 2 and an Alexa Global Rank of
somewhere around 1,900,000.

Until now these values has greatly changed: The Google Search Position for
the searchstring "Linux" now is somewhere around place 20, the Google Page
Rank is at 5 and the Alexa Global Rank is at around 363,000. The traffic
greatly increases every day and the whole project becomes more and more
popular again.
**Donations are very important**

As everybody knows, I'm doing this project as a hobby. There is nothing,
except the advertising, to earn some money to pay the servers, or to
increase the performance by adding more servers, loadbalancing, or
whatever. This all is very expensive. So I really would appreciate your
