Of course time variable should be something to consider in an
archaeological webgis, and this is another problem: how to handle "t"
(time) coordinate. Looking at our axperience, we have often have
datation with centuries and in some more seldom cases with the right
year. Actually we split this in two different fields, to avoid to
compromise queries. But this is of course a topic to discuss further. In
the webgis, there are already solutions to put the time dimensio:
http://projects.nytimes.com/crime/homicides/map (just an example. In
this case we have x,y and t coordinates). And i think this could also be
a solution for an archaeologica webgis in ArcheOS (i mean a timebar).
But before we should find out a good way to handle time datas (yeasr,
century, millennia or age' names; the last one is IMHO not optimal in
such a system due to the different names used in different contests...).
