No asp. Ethereal, almeno nelle ultime versioni, supporta gtk+ 2 che è 
leggermente diverso da gtk+ 1.2. Se fossi al tuo posto userei tranquillamente 
le "vecchie" lib, tanto non è che cambi un granchè (forse le icone?). Se non 
sei della mia stessa idea devi installarti le gtk+ v2, da rpm o da src. 
Ricordati che devi compilarti anche qualche altra lib di dipendenza (pango, 
atk, glib, freetype..)
