[bglug] Da winModem a linModem

Ciao,
sto cercando di far funzionare il modem interno del mio portatile, e ho bisogno
di una mano.

Ho installato il driver suggerito da IBM (il portatile e` un IBM T40) e fornito
dalla Agere (il modem e` Agere Systems AC'97)

Driver : RedHat 9.0 x86 2.4.20-8 AgereSoftModemBetaRH9-2.1.0-2.i386.rpm

L'installazione ha dato errori di warning relativi alla versione del kernel (se
serve vi mando il log).
Il modem  viene comunque riconosciuto, supera la diagnostica e  chiama il numero
del provider.
Aun certo punto  pero` ottengo l'errore : The PPP daemon has died: No ppp module
error (exit code = 4).

Precisamente :

Se provo con kppp il messaggio e` :

[root@MaryLeeKa root]# cat /root/PPP-logfile

was not included in the kernel configuration.  If PPP was included as a module,

Ho fatto come consigliato :

[root@MaryLeeKa root]# /sbin/modprobe -v ppp
modprobe: Can't locate module ppp
[root@MaryLeeKa root]#

[root@MaryLeeKa root]# /lib/modules/`uname -r`/net/ppp.o
-bash: /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2115.nptl/net/ppp.o: No such file or directory
[root@MaryLeeKa root]#


Ho sbagliato qualcosa ?
