Stai scherzando? è proprio così!

Il CD è stato brevettato da Philips e Sony!!!
Se tu vuoi produrre un lettore di CD devi pagare una royalty a loro! Per 
ogni CD prodotto devi pagargli una royalty!

Vi erano dubbi che questi accordi violassero vincoli di competitività 
fra imprese europee ma nel 2003 la Commissione Europea ha confermato la 
validità di questi accordi!

Tu pensa che per ogni CD-RW che tu compri 10 centesimi di dollaro 
vengono divisi fra Philips, Sony e Ricoh, anche se il tuo CD-RW è stato 
prodotto da uno che con questi non c'entra nulla!

Video CD Disc License Agreement
• Patents of Philips, Sony, Matsushita, JVC, CCETT and IRT
• Entrance Fee: US$25,000 • Royalties: – US$ 0.05 per disc.

CD-R Disc License Agreement
• Patents of Philips, Sony and Taiyo Yuden • Entrance Fee: 3,000,000 Yen 
• Running royalties: 3% of Net Selling Price/10 yen per disc, whichever 
is higher.

CD-RW Disc License Agreement
• Patents of Philips, Sony and Ricoh • Entrance Fee: US$25,000*
• Running royalties: 3% of Net Selling Price/US$0.15 per disc (US $0.10 
after January 1, 2000), whichever is higher.

DVD Disc License Program
• Patents of Philips, Sony and Pioneer • Entrance Fee: US$10,000 
(US$5,000 creditable against running royalties) • Running 
royalties:US$0.05 per disc sold (additional US$0.003 for the 
incorporation of AC-3 technology).
Similar programs apply to the manufacture and sale of CD and DVD players.
