Dopo essermi scaricato i binari da ftp.xfree86.org ( e i binari sono quelli
giusti....) ed essermi letto tutta la documentazione a riguardo ( ed essermi
backuppato la mia installazione ) provo ad installare XFree 4.0.1.
Ho una Red Hat 6.1 con Xfree 3.3.5.
L' installazione va bene....almeno sembra...e di base rispondo alle domande
come di default.
Faccio xf86config ed ecco la prima sorpresa: la mia Matrox G400 16 Mega AGP non
è nell'elenco delle schede....sospetti e curiosità affollano la mia mente.
PERCHE'??
perciò batto XFree86 -configure e dopo mi trovo il file XFree86Config.new
nella root directory:

Il comando di cui sopra ( XFRee86 -configure ) alla fine mi suggerisce di
provare il server con il comando: XFree86 -xf86config /root/XF86Config.new.
Ci provo e non ottengo niente di più che uno schermo bianco con tanti puntini
bianchi ed il mouse che va per i *§°§ç°§§§ suoi...:-\
Mah! Rimouvo ogni cosa e ripristino il tutto; mi leggo il file di log ed ecco
