[Tech] Installazione ltmodem_cs - how to

io ho trovato queste istruzioni e le ho seguite.

HOWTO install 'ltmodem_cs' for PCMCIA linmodems with LUCENT chips

I have tested the driver with 3.1.24. My tests where done on a 2.4.0 kernel.
For the following you have to be logged in as root.
Unpack the downloaded file with
	'tar -xzof pcmcia-cs-3.1.25.tar.gz'
in one directory. change to the newly created directory (pcmcia-cs-3.1.25) and unpack 
the ltmodem-5.78e_cs-3.1.24.tar.gz inside this directory with
	'tar -xzof ltmodem-5.78e_cs-3.1.24.tar.gz'
This will create a new subdirectory called 'non-free' that contains the Lucent proprietary
module. In the 'clients' directory it will create four files (ltmodem.c, ltmodem_cs.c,
ltmodem_cs.mk and ltsrial.c). These are the sourcefiles for ltmodem_cs.o. In the etc directory 
it will put three additional files (ltmodem, ltmodem.conf and ltmodem.opts). 
Also there will be a new headerfile be put into include/linux. In the top 
sourcedirectory there will be a new 'ltmodem.mk' file that controlls the 
compilation of the module.

cosa avrei dovuto fare? 

capisco anche io che il primo è il normale card service, ma qui pare che si debba applicare una specie di patch per creare il modulo. infatti poi i file ltmodem_cs.o viene copiato in /lib/modules/2.4.18/pcmcia/


inoltre non mi pare che ci siano pacchetti pronti per questo modem, ne per la slack ne per altre ...
