[Tech] accesso remoto a mysql

Ciao a tutti.
Non riesco ad accedere a mysql da un'altra box della lan.
Se infatti da box1 cerco di accedere a mysql, in esecuzione su box2, come utente root con:
$> mysql -h box2.my.home -p
Enter password: <la digito>
ERROR 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query

e - quel ch'è più strano - sulla console di box2 viene sputata una roba orrenda:

Che cosa significa ?!?
