Ciao.
Sto provando ad usare il driver perchè ho una Netgear MA521.
Dopo averlo compilato li ho aggiunti a modules.preload (sto usando Mandriva
2005LE) in questo ordine:
ieee80211_crypt-r8180.ko
ieee80211_crypt_wep-r8180.ko
ieee80211-r8180.ko
r8180.ko
All'inserimento dmesg la vede :
ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'
ieee80211-r8180: loading with WEP enabled.

wlan0: no IPv6 routers present
Penso che tutto vada bene, ma quando provo a dare ifconfig wlan0 up non riesco
a connettermi con il router. Questo sia che usi il DCHP sia un IP statico.
Provando il DHCP :
[root@localhost ~]# ifconfig wlan0
wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:09:5B:BF:FB:62
inet6 addr: fe80::209:5bff:febf:fb62/64 Scope:Link

[root@localhost ~]# iwconfig wlan0

Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
[root@localhost ~]# iwlist wlan0 scanning
wlan0 No scan results
Perchè non vede la mia rete wireless ?
Tanto per precisare, se imposto mode master, vede la rete, ma a me serve
Managed.
Nel file /var/log/messages ho :
Sep 23 19:18:04 localhost dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255
port 67 interval 4
Sep 23 19:18:08 localhost dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255

Sep 23 19:19:05 localhost dhclient: No DHCPOFFERS received.
Allora provo a dare un IP statico:
[root@localhost ~]# ifconfig wlan0 192.168.0.10
[root@localhost ~]# ifconfig wlan0
wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:09:5B:BF:FB:62
inet addr:192.168.0.10 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

Interrupt:19 Memory:e90c6000-e90c6100
[root@localhost ~]# ifup wlan0
Determining IP information for wlan0... failed.
Che faccio?
Ma il modo Auto come funziona? E' proprio auto in tutti i settaggi della
frequenza del canale, velocità etc?
Allora provo impostando mode Managed
[root@localhost ~]# iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed
[root@localhost ~]# iwconfig wlan0
wlan0 IEEE 802.11b Mode:Managed Frequency:2.417 GHz
Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00 Bit Rate=11 Mb/s

Link Quality=49/100 Signal level=-103 dBm Noise level=-205 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
Perchè Access-Point è tutto 0?
[root@localhost ~]# iwconfig wlan0 essid "Wireless"
[root@localhost ~]# iwconfig wlan0 channel 5
Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not permitted.
Perchè non permitted?
Qui mi fermo perchè mi sembra che basti no? ;-)
Help, Aiuto. !
