Impossibile montare disco USB

Carissimi,
ho un problema con un HD USB esterno (Philips, su WinXP funziona) perchè non
riesco a montarlo. Nessun device è creato, infatti mi aspetterei che venga 
visto qualcosa come /dev/sda.
Quando inserisco i due connettori usb(dati + power)
Il dmesg è :

usb 3-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6
scsi2 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 6
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning

A questo punto devo  aspettare 10-20 Secondi per vedere poi:

hub 3-0:1.0: over-current change on port 1
usb 3-2: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6
scsi: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery: host 2 channel 0 id 0 
lun 0
usb-storage: device scan complete


Stranamente se connetto solo il connettore dei dati :

hub 3-0:1.0: over-current change on port 1
usb 3-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7
scsi3 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 7
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning

A questo punto devo  aspettare 10-20 Secondi per vedere poi:

usb 3-2: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7

lun 0
usb-storage: device scan complete

Log quasi uguali e risultati itentici.

A me sembra che non dia l'alimentazione al disco.
I moduli USB mi sembra siano caricati :
