Hi Peter,
I followed your instruction:
added alps.c and alps.h to the source tree
modified Makefile
modified mice.c (added your code and #include "headers/alps.h")

In alps.c I changed the name of function tp_read_config_file in
alps_tp_read_config_file because it is present in synaptics.c and I had
an error compiling.

Now I have a new error but I don't know how to proceed so please help me.=
