[gpm] Lots of fixes against gpm-2-dev

Looks good besides 9b76c2f2674d290508791d56629aaf8b63aac051
(defining _GNU_SOURCE). I'll merge it anyway, but keep in mind
that it should vanish sooner or later, to make gpm (in theory)
portable...
