in primis ringrazio il Direttivo per l'opportunità di partecipare in
qualità di relatore a questa iniziativa, è stata una piacevole serata
e mi ha colpito in particolar modo l'affluenza, onestamente (e in
senso buono) del tutto inaspettata!
volevo sfruttare il thread per rispondere ad un quesito che mi è stato
rivolto in merito alle ragioni per le quali un client in modalità DHCP
possa rifiutare (messaggio di DHCPDECLINE) un indirizzo offerto da un
DHCP server: il solito Stevens viene prontamente in aiuto e cita
testualmente:

"Once the client receives the DHCPACK message and other associated
configuration information, it may probe the network to ensure that the
address provided is not in use (e.g., by sending an ARP request for
the address to perform ACD, described in Chapter 4). Should the client
determine that the address is already in use, the client ceases using
the address and sends a DHCPDECLINE message to the server to indicate
that the address cannot be used. After a recommended 10s delay, the
client is able to retry. If a client elects to relinquish its address
before its lease expires, it sends a DHCPRELEASE message"

tradotto,
non solo il DHCP Server esegue una verifica per evitare che l'IP che
sta offrendo sia già attivo sulla rete generando quindi un potenziale
conflitto di IP,
ma anche il client stesso potrebbe eseguire una verifica di questo
tipo e 'rifiutare' l'IP proposto con un messaggio di DHCPDECLINE.
la citazione ACD fa riferimento all' Address Conflict Detection ovvero
l'opportunità di verificare, tramite pacchetti ARP (ARP probe e ARP
announcement) l'effettivo utilizzo o meno di un potenziale indizzo
IPv4.
