I explicitly did not include a default password (much less an empty
one) for root, because of security issues. You have to edit
/etc/passwd and/or to chroot into the system and run "passwd" to
change the password. If this is not clear on the wiki, the wiki should
be updated.
Note: for the last year and a half, I "upgraded" from my Jornada to a
Toshiba Libretto. The battery life is not quite as good, but it's
quite some comfort on the software side (and memory and speed side). I
don't think I'll ever make time for Jornada kernel hacking anymore. If
anyone does, I have a machine for him.

"Gentlemen, the time is coming when there will be two great classes,
Socialists, and Anarchists. The Anarchists want the government to be nothing,
and the Socialists want government to be everything. There can be no greater
contrast. Well, the time will come when there will be only these two great
parties, the Anarchists representing the laissez faire doctrine and the
Socialists representing the extreme view on the other side, and when that time
comes I am an Anarchist." -- William Graham Sumner (1840-1910).
