Download python from Continuum http://continuum.io/downloads and
install following the provided instructions
http://docs.continuum.io/anaconda/install.html#mac-install

Then from the terminal:

    #conda update conda
    #conda update ipython ipython-notebook ipython-qtconsole \
        readline psutil matplotlib scipy numpy nose
