Asus serie A6-modem e scheda audio

Ho comprato un notebook asus A6QOOVM che ha il modem "HDAUDIO Soft92
Data Fax Modmem with SmartCP".
Ho installato open suse 10 che non rileva alcun modem.
Ho interrogato il modem da windws e ho ottenuto leseguenti informazioni:

La scheda audio viene rilevata ma nn riesco a farla funzionare.

ho provato alanciare alsaconf 2> alsaconf.log
che restituisca il seguente errore:

No state is present for card Intel

e naturalmente il suono di test non si sente e neepure altri files audio.
I volumi sono alzati.

Quindi, come posso far funzionare
IL MODEM?
LA SCHEDA AUDIO?

Sul sito del produttore non ci sono driver per linux naturalmente.
Ho provato anche con knoppix 4.0.2 ma l'audio non va.
