[Primipassi] modem su acer travelmate 220

continuando a cercare su google ho trovato qualcuno che e' riuscito a 
far funzionare il modem su laptop acer travelmate 220 
(mandrake 9.1) con dei driver che io pero' non rieco a compilare:

nel readme le uniche due cose che dice sono di scegliere l'hal (che 
io non so cos'e'... le scelte sono tra: pct789, cm8738, i8xx, sis, 
via686a) e di indicargli la cartella con i sorgenti del kernel.
che devo fa?
ricordo che ad un lspci, risulta:
