Whether - Consiglio su come tradurlo

Il messaggio è la descrizione di una chiave di GConf.

Un esempio: apri gconf-editor e seleziona la chiave (tanto per fare un 
esempio) /desktop/gnome/sound/event_sounds.

Nel riquadro "Documentazione della chiave" troverai varie informazioni, tra 
cui la descrizione breve e la descrizione lunga. Quest'ultima in inglese è

  Whether to play sounds on user events.

mentre in italiano è stata tradotta con

  Indica se usare suoni quando avvengono eventi utente.

Il "se ... o no" (che è ciò che esprime "whether"), si potrebbe spiegare con:

  Se [la casella/l'opzione di configurazione] è selezionata, usa suoni quando
  avvengono eventi utente [altrimenti no].


E (qui ipotizzo) si è concordato che il modo migliore per tradurre frasi che 
iniziano con "Whether..." è usare la forma "Indica se..."

A naso, direi che ti chiede GStreamer >= 0.8.7.
