Hi all,in these days we are working on ArcheOS 5 (Theodoric) DB metapackage. Following the results of the discussion on these MLs we decided to keep most of the software of ArcheOS 4 (Caesar), updating the packages where necessary (e.g. postgres and postgis 9.1 instead of 8.4). We also decided to remove spatialite-gui and spatialite-gis, since QGIS and Sqlite Data Browser are simple enough to work with sqlite data (so that the two software I mentioned before are considered redundant in ArcheOS 5). To provide a complete solution to sqlite users we also added rasterlite, so that is now possible to work also with raster data. The only question we were not able to solve in the ML regards Zotero (a software which was in ArcheOS 4). We have two main option:

1) Use Zotero as a Iceweasel extension (pros: no need to do a new package; cons: it could be difficult for newbies)2) Ad Zotero as a standalone application (pros: it could be a simpler solution for newbies; cons: we should create a new package)

So if you want to express your preference, you can vote in the poll we opened on ArcheOS website: http://www.archeos.eu/wiki/doku.php?id=wiki:db_metapackage_pollI think a couple of week should be enough to decide about Zotero, so we can close the poll for the 15th of March. In the meantime we can start to consider the software for the next archeos metapackage (dendrochronology), a topic in which we will need a strong help from the community :).

Ciao a tutti,

http://www.archeos.eu/wiki/doku.php?id=wiki:db_metapackage_poll
