Su internet ho trovato quello che fa al caso tuo. Prima di tutto pero' 
un consiglio: svincolati dalla interfaccia grafica, non ne hai nessun 
bisogno (gnome o kde che sia). Comunque ecco il link, per iniziare va 
benissimo:

e' proprio facile facile, se devi imparare da zero direi che va bene.
