[Flug] Software Libero e XML

 Ciao a tutti,

 Visto che si fa un gran parlare di software libero nella Pubblica
Amministrazione (vedi ASSOLI, vedi la mail di S. Fiorillo a vari LUG, vedi
la mozione di Alessio Papini al Comune di Firenze discussa sulla lista del
FLUG), e che sono giusto inciampato in questo paragrafo, nella FAQ
dell'XML (http://www.ucc.ie/xml/) :

A.11   Why do we need all this SGML stuff? Why not just use Word or Notes?

Information on a network which connects many different types of computer
has to be usable on all of them. Public information cannot afford to be
restricted to one make or model or manufacturer, or to cede control of its
data format to private hands. It is also helpful for such information to
be in a form that can be reused in many different ways, as this can
minimize wasted time and effort. Proprietary data formats, no matter how
well documented or publicized, are simply not an option: their control
still resides in private hands and they can be changed or withdrawn
arbitrarily without notice.

SGML is the international standard for defining this kind of application,
but those who need an alternative based on different software for other
purposes are entirely free to implement similar services using such a
system, especially if they are for private use.

 Beh, quello che mi sta frullando per la testa e' che per sbloccare
veramente la situazione, quello che va fatto per prima cosa e' di definire
dei formati dati standard e aperti - e XML sembra un buon candidato. 

 Non ho voglia di farla lunga sui vantaggi di avere formati standard e
aperti, e delle positive ripercussioni sull'utilizzo di Software Libero;
ma visto che si parlava di PA, quello che mi sembra importante dire e'
che il settore pubblico, oltre a trarre grossi vantaggi da formati dati
standard e aperti, avrebbe un enorme effetto trainante.
