Per scoprire il device prova a procedere così:
da root a telefono scollegato lancia il comando "dmesg"
poi attacchi il telefono, rilancia lo stesso comando e vedi cosa ha 
aggiunto in fondo, dovresti vedere le informazioni sul device.
In alternativa fai un cat di "/proc/partitions" dove ti elenca le 
partizioni esistenti. Generalmete una periferica usb viene vista come 
sda, sda1 o uba, uba1

Questo è quello che dmesg mi mostra quando attacco il mio motorola v360:

con il telefono in modalità DATI/FAX lo vede come device /dev/ttyACM0
