[gpm]Problem making my touchpad work

Hi,

I am the one who wrote the Synaptics Touchpad code for GPM. It sounds
like your problem could be one of two things. Either your touchpad is
not made by synaptics, or they have changed their protocol in an
incompatible way.

I did try to get information on the protocol used in another touchpad
(Cat I believe) but they didn't seem to want to answer my email, so no
go.

Since I wrote the touchpad code I have managed to lose the document
which describes the protocol, and I can't find it on the net any more.
But if I did find it, I don't have the hardware to test with if they
changed their protocol.

So, the short answer is, it doesn't sound compatible for some reason,
and I don't think I can help since I don't have the documentation or the
hardware to test with.

Since my work was based on what was done in tpconfig, you might look
there to see how that has changed since I developed the Synaptics code.

Sorry I am not very helpful here.
