[gpm]switching between X and console [Was: gpm]

this did not make a difference either... the mouse still went mad when i
switched from X to the console (or logged out of X to xdm), but this
time gm did not exit on an error and i had to kill it myself.

the problem seems to happen most when the mouse is moving when i log out
of X or switch to console...
