You can, but you have to edit the linked URLs to be under /private/jornada820
rather of just /private.

It's meant to be relatively small. If you have a lot of disk space
(microdrive, NFS, etc.), then you might want to install
a "normal" debian-arm distribution.e
Otherwise, maybe compile a uclibc environement with OpenEmbedded?

Should be.

Another basic debian-based distro is PowerWorkstation.
