Hi all,
I just started to try to follow the instruction on the wiki installation
quick start and I'm continuously running into problems
I have a Jornada 820 with 32MB (yes one of the lucky ones)
I'm using a 512MB CF card. Is this large enough? It certainly holds
everything.
I've fdisk'd the card with the following
Partition 1 size +16MB type b (Win95 fat32)
Partition 2 size +128M type 82 (Linux swap)
Partition 3 (default - remainder of the flash - type 83)
Mkfs (defaults to ext2) of /dev/sdb3
Copied the files to in the fat32 partition (this part seemed to work
fine)
Since the boot process starts OK. Although I never tried it without the
files
In the ext2 partition.
Extracted all the files to my local linux system and then cp -R to
/dev/sdb3
By the way, from the instructions it seems like you are supposed to load
the
files from both of the files listed in the wiki Installation Quick Start
(TAR.BZ and zaurus-debian-base-v0.17.tgz) but they have almost the same
directory structure so I tried them individually.
I go through the boot process and it starts fine but I get the following
Error messages.
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: p1 p2 p3

Stopping before we do a big mistake.
Fallback plan: running busybox on the initial ramdisk
Welcome to Linux for the HP Jornada 820.
This is a single user shell with PID=1
If using the boot image standalone, have busybox manage your consoles
with:
Standalone
Otherwise, you may setup your rootfs on CF, then invoke function:
rootfs
/linuxrc: 1: cannoth open dev/vc/1: no such file
Kernel panic : attempted to kill init!
I also tried some different boot options (kernel debug root=/dev/hda3
hda=1009,16,62)
But didn't make a difference.
>From what I can tell it doesn't like the ext2 partition, but I can't
tell why.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rick
