Praticamente dice che slmodemd -c ITALY /dev/slusb0
serve a usare /dev/slusb0 per il device _reale_ del modem /dev/pts/N
(N numero che cambia ad ogni boot a seconda delle periferiche usb
connesse e come vengono riconosciute) e per far si che /dev/ttySL0
punti a /dev/pts/N

/dev/pts/N e /dev/ttySL0 sono creati in RAM e spariscono al reboot

Per testare il modem dai wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
dovrebbe rilevarlo

Devi pure modificare il file di config con Carrier Check = no in ogni
caso, perche' in italia non serve (e non solo nel caso dei modem
/dev/pts/N come dice il tuo amico)

Oh, se non riesci magari possiamo approfittarne e vederci tutti per
una birra e risolvere il tuo problema.
