Traduzione del termine "monitor"

Ciao a tutti,
nella traduzione del .po del pacchetto gnome-netstatus si trova spesso la
parola "monitor". Ad esempio:

"Monitor network activity"
"The Network Interface monitored by the Network Monitor."
"The current interface the icon is monitoring."

Non amando particolarmente il verbo monitorare stavo cercando alternative,
ma non ne trovo. Qualcuno ha delle proposte?
