[Gpm] debug gpm 1.19.2

we would like to have the messages of debug when we run gpm v.1.19.2
about debuging gpm.
We think patch gpm with the patchfile "reinit.patch" but we don't know
if it's the good patch to debug gpm.
Could you get us the command line to apply the patchfile because we
don't know to use the program file "patch" and "diff".
Could you help us.
